Initial Setup for API Axxis Arms
Arm (all models)
- This procedure must be followed for all Axxis arms, including the 7dof scanner arm...
- Download the Baces3D Install zip from ftp://ftp.kinematics.com/pub/SA/Install/Driver%20Downloads/PCMM%20Arms/API/Axxis/.
- Unzip the file to your hard drive, and follow the instructions in the '_Baces3D USB installation' pdf file.
- NOTE: You must have the proper calibration file for the arm. This should be on a disk that came with the arm. The file name will contain the arm serial number and will end with "..._Arm.tab". You will be prompted to browse for the path to this file when the interface starts.
Scanner Arm
- Download the Kreon install zip from ftp://ftp.kinematics.com/pub/SA/Install/Driver%20Downloads/Scanners/Kreon%20Scanner%20Plugin/.
- Unzip the file to your hard drive, and run Setup.exe. The install will guide you through the process of installing the scanner and the HASP dongle driver.
- NOTE: You must have the proper calibration file for the arm. This should be on a disk that came with the arm. The file name will contain the arm serial number and will end with "..._Scanner.tab". You will be prompted to browse for the path to this file when the interface starts.
- NOTE: You must also have the proper calibration file for the scanner. The Kreon install will prompt you for the file. It will be named [scanner serial number].cal.
Network Settings for Running the Scanner
-
NOTE: ALL the below settings can be made automatically if you have installed Kreon’s Polygonia software. There is a utility there called SolanoConfig.exe,
which will automatically configure your pc to run the Kreon
scanner.
- The scanner's ip address is set to
192.168.244.43
255.255.255.0 (mask)
- Your PC's network card MUST have the following address:
192.168.244.x, where x is any number between 1 and 255, except for 43
255.255.255.0 (mask)
- The above MUST be the ONLY address set on your network card.
- Your network card MUST be configured for 'Speed & Duplex' = '10Mbps/Full Duplex'
You can find this setting in (e.g. for Windows XP) in Device Manager:
Control Panel >> System >> Hardware >> Device Manager. Select Network adapter (the one you are configuring), and go to the Advanced tab.
If you are unable to make this setting change, you will need to consult IT, or someone who can make the change.
- NOTE: The consequence of the above requirements is of course that you will be unable to run any other device which uses network communications on the computer configured as required, UNLESS the computer has more than one network card.
Possible “Gotcha’s” When Running the Scanner
-
When initializing the arm at startup, be sure NOT to select the Factory
calibration for the arm. Select either
the scanner cal. If the scanner is attached to the arm, or
the probe cal. Otherwise.
- If you need to replace your Kreon calibration file
(*.cal), the default Kreon
calibration directory is C:\ProgramData\Kreon Technologies\Calibration. This is the path you are directed to when
installing the Kreon Plugin for SA.
- When calibrating the scanner, you MUST press the [Delete Scan] button in the Kreon Positioning window in order to enable the Scanner
control buttons. Otherwise, the arm
buttons for scanning will not acquire any data!
